Spartacus Gods of the Arena Episode 1: Past Transgression

We witnessed Spartacus trailed his epic tale and stunned by his might and boldness, but before Spartacus was crowned with glorious acclaims, a warrior had already encrypted his name in the arena, Gannicus.

I expected Starz to release Spartacus’ 2nd season but instead, a prequel of Blood and Sand will kick off this January 21, 2011. The prequel follows the character Gannicus as the first gladiator to become Champion of Capua representing Batiatus. The story also trails in the bloody history of the House of Batiatus and the city of Capua before Spartacus came. With his ambition to escape from his father’s shadows, Quintus Lentulus Batiatus tries to seek recognition and became a lanista (manager) when he takes over his father’s Iudus of Gladiators.

The penultimate TV series is getting beyond the definition of hard core. Seeing some of the spoilers, you should expect the prequel to be grittier than the first season. I mean, Starz will paint it with much more vivid veneer. I’m expecting for more skins, more smash and doom, more blood spills, more shocking, more heart- pounding experience and everything else- Starz won’t fail us for sure.

Cast and characters include from the original series, stars Dustin Clare as Gannicu, John Hannah as Batiatus, Lucy Lawless as Lucretia, Peter Mensah as Oenomaus, Nick Tarabay as Ashur, Lesley-Ann Brandt as Naevia, Antonio Te Maioha as Barca, and Manu Bennett as Crixus.

Furthermore, I would like to invite you to watch Spartacus Gods of the Arena Episode 1: Past Transgression as the prequel’s first episode. The plot follows Batiatus as finds himself in control of his father’s ludus. He chooses his lineup of selected skilled gladiators to win favor of a nobleman in order to be part of the opening games in the new arena. Also, the origins of the Gaul, Crixus are explored and the story of the original champion of the House of Batiatus, the Celt warrior Gannicus begins.

If you had some comments you could sound it off. Don’t miss to watch Spartacus Gods of the Arena Episode 1: Past Transgression and visit us for more buzz.
